Running alongside the River Wharfe, there are many flat walks available in this location that are ideal for those who are looking to enjoy the clean Yorkshire air but without having to push themselves too hard.

Burnsall Walk

Further down from Buckden along the River Wharfe, the village of Burnsall lies deep in the Yorkshire Dales, providing some stunning views all around. A walk encompassing some of the other local communes, such as Linton and Grassington, is a great excuse to discover the hidden gems of a much-travelled region. Highlights here include the beautiful Linton Falls, which can make a thunderous noise following rainfall!

Harewood House

Just north of the city of Leeds, Harewood is an affluent location that plays host to the beautiful Harewood House. A charming 18th-century manor, the building hosts fine art and many local events, but it’s the local grounds surrounding it that make for a particularly peaceful walk. Full of open plains and plenty of nature, this is the perfect day-trip for families.

Ingleborough

However, if you are looking for something more manageable, then Ingleborough could be the perfect trek! The most popular of the peaks mentioned above, Ingleborough is the second highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales and is one of the most popular hiking locations in the whole of Yorkshire.

Muker Walk

Located in Swaledale, one of the northernmost areas of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Muker is one of a selection of stunning villages in this local area, making it perfect for those who are looking for a taste of the quiet Yorkshire life. A walk from Muker to nearby Thwaite can take around three hours and encompasses serene farmland, untouched hills and beautiful communities that make for the perfect resting point.

Stainforth

Situated just outside Doncaster in South Yorkshire, the parish of Stainforth is a quiet, pleasant location full of Yorkshire charm. However, the magic of choosing this location for your hiking adventures is found along the nearby River Ribble. The Stainforth Force is a dramatic waterfall, consisting of a range of small drops before a four-foot crash into the water below. It is also a location known for its salmon, which you can see leaping through during the later months of the year.

Rievaulx Abbey

A particularly special location in the North York Moors National Park, the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey make for the perfect walk through this region’s deep history. Sat just outside the town of Helmsley, many of this 12th-century location’s walls are still standing, creating a dramatic scene that makes the walk through the countryside even more worth it.
